1934 - Babe Ruth's final game as a New York Yankee, goes 0 for 3.
1939 - First televised College Football game has Fordham vs. Waynesburg at New York City.
1947 - Two records in one baseball game; First televised World Series has the Yankees defeating the Dodgers 5-3 in front of the largest World Series crowd of 73,365.
1978 - Major Indoor Soccer League grants first of six franchises to Cincinnati.
1979 - Milwaukee Brewers lose 5-0 ending 213 straight games without a shutout.
1980 - Oakland A's Rickey Henderson sets AL stolen base record at 98 en route to 100 for the season.
1984 - Bowie Kuhn ends his lustrous career as Baseball Commissioner.
1992 - Kansas City Royal George Brett collects 4 hits to become only the 18th player in major league history to capture 3,000 career hits.
1997 - New York Yankees Tim Raines, Derek Jeter & Paul O'Neill are the first to hit three consecutive homers in a post season game to help the Yankees defeat the Cleveland Indians 8-6.
