1947 - Happy Chandler announces Ford & Gillette to sponsor the World Series.
1954 - Yankee greats Yogi Berra plays his only game at 3rd Base & Mickey Mantle at Shortstop.
1959 - Milwaukee Braves Warren Spahn becomes the winningest NL left handed pitcher.
1959 - San Francisco Giants Sam Jones throws his second no-hitter, beating the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-0.
1961 - Roger Maris hits HR #60 off of Jack Fisher, tying Babe Ruth's record.
1964 - Braves (25) & Phillies (18) set record by using 43 players in their 9 inning game.
1973 - Wilt Chamberlain signs with the ABA San Diego Conquistadors.
1978 - NY District Court Judge Constance Baker Motley rules that women sportswriters cannot be banned from locker rooms.
