The NFL coaching carousal usually generates a few rumors as "Black Monday" approaches, but ESPN's Jay Glazer threw out an interesting tidbit Sunday ahead of Week 17.
According to the report, the Texans and head coach Bill O'Brien could "mutually" part ways should the team lose early in the playoffs.
O'Brien has seemingly done nothing wrong in Houston, even leading the Texans to the playoffs this season despite enduring Brock Osweiler's horrific performances at quarterback.
Glazer is normally a reputable source, but this report seems like a stretch unless Houston already has someone lined up that they really like.
It's possible Houston's brass is pressuring O'Brien to start Osweiler, who signed a four-year, $72 million contract this offseason. O'Brien recently made the move to start Tom Savage, who is making significantly less money, yet has proven to be much more reliable.
Should O'Brien shockingly find himself on the open market, he likely won't have any problem finding a new job. He is one of the best at developing quarterbacks.
