Nobody knows for sure if Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight king Conor McGregor and all-time boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. are serious about meeting in a highly profitable superfight. Rumors have swirled and speculation has risen, but a legitimate decision is not even close to being made. Fortunately for combat fans, another great boxer by the name of Manny Pacquiao would be more than willing to welcome McGregor into the boxing ring if "Money" remains on the sidelines.
"In boxing [I would] but not in [the UFC], just boxing," said Pacquiao regarding a boxing fight with "Notorious" in a recent interview with FOX Sports News 500.
Pacquiao added that he doesn't believe a fight between McGregor and Mayweather will actually come to fruition. However, Pacquiao did state that McGregor wouldn't survive inside of the boxing ring with Mayweather if something did happen down the line. He paid respect to McGregor's skills inside of the Octagon, but maintains the same outlook on the Irishman's potential crossover into the boxing world as many other combat enthusiasts, which gives the UFC champ no shot in exchanging with Mayweather.
At this point, anything is possible. McGregor would probably fight either premiere boxing legend if the money was right, so we can probably throw Pacquiao's name into the mix as long as we're discussing Mayweather. After all, Pacquiao wouldn't demand as much money, would be easier to hit and is an active fighter as of 2017.
