San Diego's Melvin Gordon carted off field after hip injury

The San Diego Chargers have put a higher-than-normal number of players on injured reserve this season – a whopping 16, a list that includes offensive standouts receiver Keenan Allen and running back Danny Woodhead.
They may have to add budding young star Melvin Gordon to that list.
With the Chargers playing in Carolina against the Panthers, Gordon was injured midway through the first quarter, on a play in which Philip Rivers was strip-sacked by Kawann Short.

The Chargers tweeted that Gordon had suffered a hip injury and would be out for the remainder of the game.
San Diego’s first-round pick in 2015, Gordon played in all 13 games this season, with 11 starts. Coming into Sunday’s game, he had 1,411 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns (10 rushing, two receiving).
