It’s probably not a good thing for Los Angeles Clippers fans that the estimated timetable for Blake Griffin‘s return after Tuesday’s knee surgery is 4 to 6 weeks. That’s up from 3 to 6 weeks as reported yesterday.
According to a release from the Clippers, Griffin’s surgery on his right knee removed loose bodies and pushed the timeline back slightly.
Griffin is averaging 21 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per-game for a team that is now sitting at No. 4 in the Western Conference.
As Kurt pointed out in the link above, the surgery could wind up costing Griffin money thanks to new provisions in the CBA failing to trigger a bonus in available contract money if he fails to make the All-NBA team.
The Clippers, meanwhile, could still keep their current pace given their schedule ahead. Blake’s injury now throws doubt toward those of us who thought this might be the year LA could make it through to the playoffs without anyone sitting courtside in street clothes.
