One day after firing head coach Gus Bradley after a meltdown in Houston, the 48th loss in 62 games with him as head coach, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that Doug Marrone will serve as the team’s interim head coach for the final two games of the season.
If sacks are any indication, the Jaguars’ offensive line has improved under Marrone; the line has given up 30 sacks through 14 games, after giving up 41 sacks through 14 games in 2015 and 62 through 14 games in 2014.
Marrone has served as the Jaguars’ assistant head coach-offense/offensive line coach since his hiring in January 2015.
The 52-year old Marrone was the Buffalo Bills’ head coach in 2013-14.
Jacksonville general manager Dave Caldwell is expected to meet with the media on Monday afternoon.
