Per Ken Davidoff of the New York Post, Mets outfielder Juan Lagares injured his right shoulder attempting to make a diving catch in a Dominican winter league game on Saturday. He underwent and X-ray and was evaluated on Sunday. More information is expected to be known on Monday.
The Mets are expected to trade Jay Bruce at some point before spring training, so Lagares appears ticketed for another season as the club’s fourth outfielder. The 27-year-old finished the 2016 season batting .239/.301/.380 with 13 extra-base hits and nine RBI in 160 plate appearances. Lagares missed some time in the summer with a torn ligament in his left thumb.
