With the NCAA investigating Northern Colorado for alleged NCAA violations the last several seasons, the school has opted for self-imposed penalties.
Northern Colorado has banned itself from the postseason for this season, given itself a financial penalty of $5,000 and two percent of the team’s overall budget. Recruiting will also be affected under the self-imposed penalties as men’s basketball scholarships are reduced by three during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.
The alleged violations came under former coach B.J. Hill, as he and his staff were immediately fired when the school became aware of the violations.
New head coach Jeff Linder will have to deal with the fallout of these alleged violations as he comes to Northern Colorado after being an assistant coach at Boise State.
