The Chicago Cubs are seeking their first World Series championship in 108 years. Everyone outside of Cleveland Indians fans and lovers of prolonged misery (i.e. “Cleveland Indians fans”) is pretty much pulling for the Cubs to break several curses to Fly The ‘W’ for the title.
FOR A WHITE SOX FAN.
According to Kris Versteeg, former Chicago Blackhawks winger and current Calgary Flames player, Toews is a sock in Cubs’ clothing.
“Toews was a White Sox fan. I know how he’s probably trying to play it off right now that he’s actually cheering,” Versteeg told reporters.
Wow. This is a Chicago sports scandal the likes we haven’t seen since, like, 1919. A White Sox fan, pretending to be a Cubs fan as they play for the World Series championship. Why, that’s like a Yankees fan pretending to be a Mets fan in 1986 … wait, what was that? They all were, and then Jeter arrived? Our mistake.
But there’s obviously another way to look at this, which is that the Cubs’ attempting to win the World Series is a moment in which everyone drops their fan allegiances (again, Cleveland excluded) and just climbs aboard the bandwagon.
Hell, if it’s good enough for this White Sox fan, it’s good enough for Toews:

Good luck to the Cubs. Maybe if you win, Toews will force his teammates to dress in the other Chicago team’s gear instead of this getup:
Where have you gone, Paul Konerko …
