Redskins' DeAngelo Hall done for season with torn ACL

Image result for Redskins' DeAngelo Hall done for season with torn ACLThe Washington Redskins finally had something go their way this season when they beat the unbeaten New York Giants and earned their first victory of the season. But some bad news was close behind.
DeAngelo Hall, one of their defensive leaders, is reportedly done for the season with a torn ACL. The ligament was completely torn when he went down in a bad-looking fall in the first half of Sunday’s game. He was ruled out shortly afterward, and though he returned to the sideline to watch the victory Hall said after the game that he feared he had torn his ACL.
An MRI on Monday confirmed those fears. The Redskins have not placed Hall on injured reserve yet but are expected to.
Hall is the NFL’s active leader in interceptions with 43 but actually had gone 18 straight games without a pick. Still, he had played an important role for the Redskins as the starting free safety, playing all but two defensive snaps in the team’s first two games. Hall, 32, also has had a remarkably long career — this is year No. 13 — after entering the league at age 20 as a rookie with the Atlanta Falcons in 2004.

Hall has been with the Redskins since 2008. The team has undergone serious roster overhaul in the past several years, but he has been a constant, even with injuries costing him 18 missed games in 2014 and 2015 combined.
The Redskins now must switch directions defensively. Will Blackmon filled in for Hall on Sunday, and the team might lean on Duke Ihenacho or Deshazor Everett to step up. Coordinator Joe Barry also could ask rookie hybrid linebacker-safety Su’a Cravens, who made the game-sealing interception on Sunday, to play more in the secondary in Hall’s place. The Redskins face the Cleveland Browns, who are quarterbacked by Cravens’ college teammate, Cody Kessler, on Sunday.
