There is finally news on Minnesota Vikings All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson: he has a torn meniscus.
But while the timetable for his return is uncertain at this point, the Vikings and coach Mike Zimmer haven’t yet ruled Peterson out for their game Sunday in Carolina against the Panthers. Here’s a timeline forecast from USA Today’s Tom Pelissero:
Peterson was hurt in the second half of Sunday night win over NFC North rival Green Bay, after his foot was pinned under him awkwardly while he was being tackled by the Packers’ Kyler Fackrell.Timeline to remember: If Adrian Peterson has meniscus removed, he's probably looking at a 2-3 week recovery. #Vikings have bye in Week 6.— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 19, 2016
The 31-year-old was carried back to the VIkings’ locker room and used crutches after the game though he was in good spirits. Even then Zimmer seemed optimistic, telling reporters that the knee had “calmed down.” Things certainly could have been worse.
