49ers put Ray-Ray Armstrong on injured reserve

And the 49ers just lost a guy, which won’t help.
Per Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the 49ers have placed linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong on injured reserve, after he suffered a pectoral injury in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.
The 49ers claimed Armstrong off waivers from the Raiders last fall, after he taunted a police dog in Pittsburgh. But the 49ers liked his bark and his bite, and signed him to a contract extension this offseason rather than have him be a restricted free agent.
He had been playing well for them so far this season, and it’s the kind of loss they can ill afford. After an impressive shutout win in the opener (OK, it was the Rams), they were strafed by the Panthers last week.
And since the 49ers offensive tempo practically guarantees they’re going to play a lot of snaps on defense, losing anyone is a blow.
