Baylor Bears head coach Art Briles speaks to the media during the Big 12 Media Days at Omni Dallas.
LSU made the bold decision on Sunday to fire longtime head coach Les Miles in a move that was a long time coming. Now that Miles is out, the Tigers have a vacancy to fill, and they are going big game hunting.
According to LSU Scout reporter Billy Embody, LSU has already reached out to the agents for Tom Herman and Art Briles:

Multiple sources have told @LSUonScout that #LSU has reached out to Tom Herman and Art Briles through their agents.

Herman is in the middle of his second season as the head coach at Houston. He led the Cougars to a 13-1 record in his debut and has Houston 4-0 this season. Houston wasted little time approving a raise to $3 million a year last November after seeing how he turned around the program. Herman accepted a raise to $2.8 million in December and decided to have the extra money go to pay his assistants. He reportedly is due a major bonus if Houston moves to a Power 5 conference.
Briles had a successful run at Houston too before taking the job at Baylor. He helped turned the Bears into a power as they won double-digits three times under his watch. However, he and Baylor parted ways in June in light of the outrage surrounding his handling of multiple sexual assault accusations involving his football players.
Briles said last month that he expected to get another job.
LSU contacting coaches to gauge interest does not necessarily mean the coaches will be interested in the position. The Tigers are 2-2 this season and named Ed Orgeron their interim head coach.
