Jim Kelly calls Tom Brady greatest QB of all time, begs him to retire
Despite being suspended for the first four games of the season, Brady is on pace for a career year.
Tom Brady is throwing age out the window this season as he continues to put up eye-popping numbers despite missing the first four games due to suspension.
Former Bills legend Jim Kelly has noticed, which is why he "doesn't mind" saying Brady is the best quarterback of all time.
"The consistency, every single year he does it. And he doesn't have, all time, the greatest players around him," Kelly said on ESPN's "Monday Night Countdown." "A lot of times they are in and out — [Wes] Welker is gone, a couple other guys are gone. He does have a great one in [Rob] Gronkowski, but the thing is he makes it work and it doesn't matter what it is."
Brady, 39, already has thrown for 1,319 yards and 12 touchdowns in just four games. The 17-year NFL star has yet to throw an interception, and he has an almost-perfect 133.9 quarterback rating.
After beating the Bills this weekend, Brady has now defeated the team 26 times, tying Brett Favre's record for wins over a single team (against the Detroit Lions). It prompted Kelly to nudge Brady in a certain direction.
"I continue to tell him year after year, it's time for you to retire. C'mon, Tom, retire, bud," Kelly joked. "I say it all the time."
Kelly pointed out that, like most pocket passers, Brady is more comfortable when he faces less pressure. It allows him to dissect a defense and pick it apart.
"And Tom doesn't take that many hits, either," Kelly noted. "He's in that pocket, and if you're going to beat a Tom Brady, you have to pressure him up the middle, making sure he doesn't step up in the pocket. If you don't get any middle pressure, you're in for a long, long day."
