College football’s 2016 coaching changes: Who’s in and out at 11 schools so far

This is a slower year for college football coach firings and hirings than the last few, which might be a little surprising, considering two of the biggest jobs (LSU and Texas) just changed hands. But both filled their jobs tidily and immediately after their regular seasons ended
Part of the reason 2015’s cycle went so wild was the rush of midseason retirement announcements, like Steve Spurrier’s and Frank Beamer’s. Without teams like those having head starts on finding replacements in 2016, there was also less pressure on other schools to hurry into the open market. And plenty of coaches are already on 2017 hot seats, meaning this quiet period might be a good time go ahead and jump in.
So there’s still time for things to go wild. There always is.
