LSU is locked into an SEC West battle with Texas A&M to wrap up their Thanksgiving but the Tigers could be celebrating much more than a victory with their turkey on Thursday.
According to multiple reports, the Tigers are close to hiring the grand prize of this year’s coaching carousel in Houston’s Tom Herman.
Herman is 22-3 with the Cougars and has upset two top five teams this season alone, in addition to winning last year’s Peach Bowl over Florida State. While many considered him to be the first choice if Charlie Strong was let go at Texas (where Herman was a graduate assistant), it appears that LSU made a strong enough impression to take the lead for his services in 2017 and beyond.
The Houston coach will have big shoes to fill as former Tigers head coach Les Miles went 114–34 and won a national title in Baton Rouge.
