Conor McGregor has yet to face Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title at UFC 205 but it appears he’s already moved on to his next target.
As he prepares to be the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously, McGregor set his sights on Tyron Woodley, who will defend his welterweight title at UFC 205 against Stephen Thompson.
It all started when McGregor made a statement at the UFC 205 news conference that he would get “all the belts on the table” in reference to the world titles that are being defended at UFC 205. Obviously, with the exception of Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s 115-pound title, that would also include Woodley’s 170-pound title.
After McGregor clarified his position, Woodley responded, “We punch with a way different power in this division.” Later, Woodley posted video of McGregor and Eddie Alvarez’ news conference scuffle.
How you act when you know somebody will break it up!? @TheNotoriousMMA @Ealvarezfight @ufc #ufc205 #UFCNYC #ufc pic.twitter.com/YFMAKyxcJk— Tyron T-Wood Woodley (@TWooodley) November 10, 2016
On Friday morning at the weigh-in, Woodley and McGregor briefly crossed paths and exchanged a few words and icy stares. Woodley walked off but that wouldn’t be the end of their encounter as the two the dueled on Twitter.
@arielhelwani I said what’s up then he tried to flex. Quickly he realized it was a NO FLEX ZONE????????????Pretty much made him say what’s up! JS

McGregor immediately responded by tweeting “Twitter [expletive] you’ll do nothing.”
Woodley fired back and advised McGregor to focus on his fight with Alvarez and “never call me a [expletive] again.” To which McGregor simply responded using the word again.
@TheNotoriousMMA I got a Strap 2 defend clown. Id suggest u focus on Urs. This ????is more than an act for some of us! Some of us live this????!— Tyron T-Wood Woodley (@TWooodley) November 11, 2016
Heading into UFC 205, McGregor is as much as a -145 favorite against Alvarez while Woodley is a +180 underdog against Thompson, according to Sportsbook Review. But if both are able to come out of UFC 205 victorious, it appears that these two can duke out their differences next.
