Mobil 1 isn’t going to a new team after Tony Stewart’s retirement.
Stewart-Haas Racing announced Friday that ExxonMobil’s Mobil 1 sponsorship would stay with the team in 2017 and beyond with Kevin Harvick as the “lead driver” for the sponsorship. Stewart is retiring at the end of the season and is being replaced in the No. 14 car by Clint Bowyer.
Harvick has been primarily sponsored by Busch and Jimmy John’s in 2016. He’s had a few races with different sponsors, including a Mobil 1 car at Pocono. The company will sponsor Bowyer, Kurt Busch and Danica Patrick as well at various points during the 2017 season.
Mobil 1 has been a primary sponsor for Stewart (and the No. 14 car when he missed the start of the season) in seven races so far this season and an associate in many others. The company will serve as an associate sponsor for SHR’s new Xfinity Series team in 2017 as well. Cole Custer will drive for it.
