Jay Cutler open to moving on from Bears

Jay Cutler appears to be in serious danger of losing his starting job for the remainder of the season, and that may end up being just fine with the Chicago Bears quarterback.
According to Jason Cole of Bleacher report, Cutler is “not terribly worried” about Brian Hoyer taking his job for good. Why? Because Cutler might end up wanting out of Chicago, anyway.
“A source close to Cutler indicated even if he doesn’t get his job back, a divorce from the Bears may not be the worst outcome,” Cole said Wednesday. “Cutler would like to stay in Chicago but is open to the idea of playing elsewhere for the remainder of his career.”
Cutler is currently dealing with a thumb injury, so John Fox has some time before he has to make a decision. That said, the Bears obviously aren’t going to pay Cutler $18 million per year through 2020 to be a backup. If he’s benched in favor of Hoyer this season, that likely means Cutler’s days in Chicago are numbered.
When you read the report about Cutler that surfaced over the weekend, it’s easy to get the impression the Bears are tired of him. Perhaps moving on would be best for both sides.
