But a pair of early goals by Gonzalo Higuain, another by Erik Lamela and two assists and a goal by Lionel Messi were far too much for them to contend with.
Messi's goal was his 54th for his country, just a few days ahead of his 29th birthday. That tied him with the great Gabriel Batistuta, whom they called Batigol, for his nation's all-time record.
