The legend of Tim Tebow, minor-league baseball player, has begun.
In his first official at-bat with the Columbia Fireflies, Tebow launched a two-run homer to left center. It may be Single-A ball, but going opposite field in your first actual minor-league at-bat is very much an accomplishment.
Take a look at how the crowd reacted, too. That’s a genuine mix of shock and awe.

Tebow also hit a home run in his first instructional league at-bat. He definitely knows how to make an introduction. Now, this could be a result of pitchers underestimating Tebow’s raw strength and natural talents or maybe he’s actually getting the hang of pro baseball. It’s probably a good blend of the two, if we’re being honest.
Regardless, this isn’t any talk about what he could do, or spring training footage of swings gone awry, this is Tebow crushing a baseball in a game that matters.
Last year in the Arizona Fall League, Tebow went .194/.296/.242 at the plate with two RBIs in 19 games. He’s already accounted for as many runs in his Single-A debut.
We can’t be positive here, but it seems likely this is the first time Tebow has ever been cheered in the state of South Carolina, too.
