The Cubs aren't World Series favorites for the first time this season

It hasn’t been a great week for the Chicago Cubs. They’re down 2-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, playing from behind, and trying to figure out how to awaken their deeply slumbering offense.
Well, this news isn’t going to make the Cubs (or Cubs fans) feel any better. For the first time in the entire 2016 season, the Cubs are no longer favored to win the World Series. It’s kind of insane to think that oddsmakers had them favorited to win the World Series all the way back on April 4, but they did. (With that rotation and lineup, it was hard to deny them.) And now, on October 19, they are not.

Here’s a look at the current odds from Bovada.lv:
Odds to win the 2016 World Series
Los Angeles Dodgers 7/4
Cleveland Indians 2/1
Chicago Cubs 5/2
Toronto Blue Jays 8/1
The Cubs don’t have it quite as bad as the Toronto Blue Jays do, since they’re down 3-1 to the Cleveland Indians. But if the Cubs don’t win on Wednesday, that’s their future: down 3-1 and just one game away from elimination.
And that future, whatever it will be, is close at hand. The Cubs’ John Lackey will be facing Dodgers youngster Julio Urias in Game 4 of the NLCS, and you can catch it on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on FS1.
