Could Bears have quarterback controversy when Jay Cutler returns from injury?

On Sunday, the Chicago Bears left the ranks of the winless, claiming a 17-14 victory over their NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions.
The Bears won with Brian Hoyer at quarterback, with Hoyer making his second start of the young season after usual starter Jay Cutler left the team’s Week 2 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with an injury to his throwing hand.
Hoyer was solid against Detroit, completing over three-quarters of his passes for 302 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. In his two-plus games this season, the veteran has connected on 69.1 percent of his attempts, with four touchdowns and no picks.
And when Cutler comes back, Hoyer may remain as starter.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Bears coach John Fox said of Hoyer, “Anybody that’s performing well, I don’t think we’re likely to change.”
Further, Fox said the quarterback position will be evaluated “just like we do every position on the football team.”
Hoyer played undeniably poorly for the Houston Texans in their wild-card playoff game against the Chiefs in January, but he was steady in the regular season: in 11 games (nine starts), the former undrafted rookie had 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Playing the first seven quarters of the Bears’ season, Cutler had one touchdown and two interceptions, though there was a report that he initially injured his thumb in the season opener against the Texans and tried to play through it in the second game, against the Eagles.
Fox said on Monday Cutler is day-to-day, and when he returns things could be interesting around Halas Hall.
