The Chicago Cubs are on a mission to end the franchise’s 108-year World Series championship drought. Meanwhile, the folks at Adidas have jumped on their bandwagon full-force with a unique promotion aimed at reversing the Curse of the Billy Goat, which some believe has infected the team since 1945.

Yes, you read and likely filled in that blank correctly.
The sports apparel company began a campaign during the NLDS to distribute “#$@& Curses” signs to Cubs fans at various locations around Chicago, and particularly Wrigley Field. The movement has grown quickly, which isn’t surprising given the Cubs vast fan bases. Signs were even spotted in McCovey Cove in San Francisco, just outside AT&T Park, where the Cubs ultimately eliminated the Giants. Now, as the series shifts to Los Angeles on Tuesday, it’s anyone’s guess where the “#$@& Curses” campaign ends up next.
Why the Cubs? Well, one of Adidas’ biggest baseball clients is Kris Bryant. They’ve provided him with some stylish new cleats that they hope they hope will bring Bryant and the Cubs good luck. The cleats’ design is based on a champagne celebration — notice that the champagne cork-print on the tongue.

But this movement isn’t just stopping with signs or fancy cleats. Much like the “Believeland” mantra in Cleveland, it’s taken on a life as more than a word or phrase, but a feeling that’s fueling the adrenaline of fans everywhere.

Now that the Cubs in L.A, we have to wonder if the “#$@& Curses” signs will pop up near the Hollywood sign or in the hands of celebs. With the series tied and three games ahead of them, the Cubs could, in theory, leave L.A. on the way to World Series. Or, at the very least, in a position to advance to the World Series at home.
If that happens, you can bet they’ll be some curses in Chicago. Curses of joy.
