With Super Bowl in mind, Carolina's Davis undergoes surgery on arm

Carolina Panthers' linebacker Thomas Davis III isn't wasting any time.
The veteran suffered a broken right arm in the second quarter of Sunday's NFC championship, which his team won handily over the Arizona Cardinals, 49-15, sending the Panthers to the Super Bowl for the first time in 12 years.
After the game, Davis vowed that he would not miss the chance to play against the Denver Broncos, telling reporters, "I’ll be back. I’ll be ready to go. I can guarantee that. I’m not missing the Super Bowl.”
Early Monday morning, Davis apparently took the first step in his comeback. His wife, Kelly, posted a photo to her Instagram feed of Davis being prepped for surgery.

The 32-year old watched the second half of Carolina's win over Arizona on the sidelines, with his arm in a sling. He was injured trying to tackle tight end Darren Fells.
Davis, the Panthers' longest-tenured player who has survived despite three ACL surgeries, was named an All-Pro for the first time this season, his 11th. He posted a career-high 5.5 sacks and four interceptions, adding seven pass breakups and four forced fumbles in addition to 105 tackles (75 solo).
