Detroit Lions fire VP of football operations

Bob Quinn was brought into Detroit as the team's new general manager earlier this month. While most of the strength and conditioning staff was let go, the team chose to retain head coach Jim Caldwell.
The Lions had a disappointing 7-9 record this season after finishing 11-5 in 2014. Before the 2014 season, the Lions had 10 or more wins just once in the previous 18 seasons, including a 0-16 mark in the 2011 season.

The Lions have fired VP of football operations Cedric Saunders, per league sources. He was with the team for 10 years.
After staring this season on a five-game losing streak and dropping seven of its first eight games, the Lions won six of its final eight games and finished the season on a three-game winning streak.
