Tributes honoring the life of Hall of Famer Yogi Berra, who died on Tuesday at the age of 90, have been coming in from all parts of the world on Wednesday.
One of the more powerful tributes though comes from the heart of the city where he made his name as a ballplayer. The city where he played hero and mentor to so many generations of fans and players: New York, New York.
On Wednesday, the Empire State Building used its bright lights to honor Berra, lighting up the Yankees famous blue and white pinstripes as the city mourns and reflects on his incredible legacy.

If one man was deserving of such an honor, it's Yogi Berra. For his contributions as a player, bringing ten championships to New York during his 18 seasons. And for his contributions as a man who made everyone around him a little wiser and a lot happier.
The Yankees may not have been home on Wednesday night, but home was where there hearts were. With their city, with their fans, and especially with the Berra family.

Similar tributes were held throughout the league as the baseball world collectively said goodbye to one of its greatest players, ambassadors and icons.
We all hoped Yogi Berra would live forever, but we can't be more thankful for 90 years of a life well lived and memories we'll never forget.
