For a rookie, David Johnson has excellent patience.
The Arizona Cardinals rookie running back and returner had only two touches in Week 1 but made the most of them, with a 55-yard TD reception and a 43-yard kickoff return.
And to start Week 2, Johnson did even better. He ran back the opening kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown, untouched on his way to a 7-0 Cardinals lead over the Chicago Bears en route to a 48-23 victory.
Eat your heart out, Devin Hester. It was the first game-opening Cardinals kick return for a TD in six seasons.
Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, sometimes slow to insert rookies into major roles, might have no choice but to feed Johnson heavily going forward.
In the third quarter, Johnson rushed for a 13-yard touchdown. That's now 221 yards and three touchdowns on Johnson's first six NFL touches. And that's what we call an auspicious career start for the rookie out of Northern Iowa.
