Jose Abreu named Players Choice AL Outstanding Rookie

Jose Abreu added another award Monday night, as the rookie first baseman was named the Players Choice AL Outstanding Rookie. It comes two weeks after Abreu was named the AL Rookie of the Year by Sporting News.
In his first season in the majors, Abreu, 27, batted .317 with 36 home runs and 107 RBI in 145 games. His 36 homers set a White Sox rookie record and were the sixth most in MLB history by a rookie. Abreu was named the AL Player of the Month twice and was the AL Rookie of the Month in April, June and July. He was the first rookie in MLB history to rank among the top-5 in each Triple Crown category, and was one of four rookies to have 30 doubles, 30 homers and 100 RBI in a season.
He's the favorite to be named the BBWAA Jackie Robinson AL Rookie of the Year when voting is revealed on Nov. 10.
Chris Sale also was named a finalist for the AL Outstanding Pitcher award. Adam Dunn was the last member of the White Sox to win an award from Players Choice, earning the AL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2012.
