Some tough news for Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis and Pittsburgh with a release Wednesday that the forward would be out at least six months with a blood clot in his lung.

“Pascal had a blood clot in his leg that traveled to his lung,” said Dr. Dharmesh Vyas, the Penguins’ team physician. “In medical terms, that is a deep vein thrombosis resulting in a pulmonary embolism. This is the second such incident that we know of for Pascal. The treatment is at least six months of blood thinners, during which time he will not be able to play hockey. Other than that, his condition is stable.”
For a team that has seen its fair share of scary situations in the past few years -- Kris Letang with a stroke last season, Ollii Maatta with a thyroid tumor -- this is another horrifying spot.
Also according to the release, Dupuis had a blood clot after tearing his ACL last January and was on blood thinners. Per dkonpittsburghsports.com, that clot was not made public.
Either way, all the best to Dupuis in his recovery.
