Mohammed, a 17-year NBA veteran, returns to the franchise for which he played parts of two seasons from 2010-12. Mohammed was part of the Thunder team that reached the 2012 NBA Finals, playing a backup center role.
Mohammed spent the past three seasons with the Chicago Bulls but hadn't played in the NBA this season, continuing to train and leaving the door open to a return to the NBA.
Mohammed joins a Thunder team that has been reeling after two losses to the Golden State Warriors in the past week. Mohammed held a leadership role with the Thunder during his previous stint with the team.
Mohammed, 38, has played for Philadelphia, Atlanta, New York, San Antonio, Detroit, Charlotte, Oklahoma City and Chicago. He was part of the Spurs' championship team in 2005 and started at center alongside Tim Duncan.
Mohammed has averaged 5.8 points and 4.7 rebounds for his career.
