Mike Dunleavy Sr. close to becoming Tulane head coach

In his most recent head coaching stop, Mike Dunleavy Sr. resigned from the Clippers during the 2010 season. (Getty)Former longtime NBA coach Mike Dunleavy Sr. is close to becoming the head coach at Tulane, multiple sources told Yahoo Sports.
The deal is not finalized but could be completed soon, sources said.
Dunleavy's name is a surprise entrant in the mix. College coaches had been considered the top candidates at the New Orleans school.
Dunleavy has not coached since 2010 and has spent his entire coaching career in the NBA – most recently with the Los Angeles Clippers, from 2003-2010, and before that with Portland, Milwaukee and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Dunleavy would replace Ed Conroy, who was fired after six seasons – just one of which ended with a winning record.
Tulane has struggled since entering the American Athletic Conference in 2014, winning just nine of 36 league games.
