UConn's Amida Brimah declares for NBA draft

Amida Brimah could still return to UConn. (AP)Connecticut 7-foot junior Amida Brimah has declared for the 2016 NBA draft, league sources told The Vertical.
Brimah won't hire pro representation immediately, which allows him to return to school before the NCAA's May 25 deadline for underclassmen, sources said.
Brimah, 22, was part of UConn's national championship team in 2014 as a freshman. He averaged 9.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 blocks a season ago.
In 25 games this season, Brimah averaged 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. Despite marginal statistics, Brimah will test the draft process and work toward a selection through team workouts and with his size and shot-blocking.
The NCAA's new date to withdraw from the draft has become tailor-made for juniors such as Brimah to test their stock before the June 23 draft.
Brimah is a native of Ghana and attended high school in Miami.
