U.S. falls to Panama in Gold Cup third-place game

What began as a mission to defend a Gold Cup title will end in a third-place match with nothing but pride to play for. That's the disappointing consequence for the United States men's national team after suffering a shocking 2-1 defeat to Jamaica in Wednesday's Gold Cup semifinal.
U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann will give a proper sendoff to veteran DaMarcus Beasley, who halted his international retirement to join the American squad, by playing the Houston Dynamo left back in the second half.
Panama is dealing with its own issues. Five players will be out due to injury or suspension, the punishments coming after a 2-1 semifinal loss to Mexico marred by controversy and chaos. The Panamanians reportedly have asked CONCACAF to investigate its referee committee.
Kickoff at PPL Park outside Philadelphia is set for 4 p.m. ET. Follow the action as it happens with the Scribble Live stream below.
