Detroit Pistons general manager Jeff Bower has reached agreement on a multiyear contract extension, league sources told The Vertical.
Bower, who works under president and coach Stan Van Gundy, was entering the final season of his original three-year deal, league sources said.
Van Gundy signed a five-year, $35 million contract in 2014.
Bower, 55, has been the top day-to-day basketball executive for Van Gundy, orchestrating several deals and building a scouting infrastructure that helped the organization make a return to the playoffs in 2015-16. Detroit was 44-38, earning the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Bower engineered trades for point guard Reggie Jackson and forward Tobias Harris – and selected Stanley Johnson in the 2015 NBA draft – solidifying the core of an Eastern Conference contender.
Bower had been the general manager of the New Orleans Hornets from 2001-03 and 2005-10, and spent the 2013-14 season as head coach of Marist College before joining Van Gundy and the Pistons.
