For a brief moment, Pittsburgh Steelers fans had hope that Ben Roethlisberger would be available to play Week 7's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin waited as long as possible, but in the end decided Roethlisberger wasn't ready to take the field after a long injury layoff, and ruled him inactive.
Landry Jones will thus start at quarterback for Pittsburgh, the third QB to take that role this season. Mike Vick had subbed in for Roethlisberger following the Week 3 injury, but Vick went down with a hamstring injury last week and Jones took the reins. The Steelers have held serve in Roethlisberger's absence, going 2-1 in games he hasn't started to stand at 4-2 overall.
While Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant surely await Roethlisberger's return and the commensurate increase in their own stats, the Steelers will save him for next week's critical division matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.
