The injury, which occurred on a four-yard run on third down with 5:36 left in the fourth quarter, didn’t initially look serious. Following the game, coach Art Briles didn't know the extent of the inury, but said it was severe enough that the Bears would not have put Russell back in the game had the contest been closer.
Backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham played the next series.
"We're going to evaluate Seth in the next few days," Briles said. "If he's cleared, he'll play, because he's a tough hombre now."
The Bears have a bye next week before traveling to Kansas State for a Thursday night game on Nov. 5. Russell has 29 touchdown passes to just six interceptions this season.
