Quarterbacking USC is a job, like being President of the United States or lead singer of Van Halen, that not a lot of people have held, and even fewer have done well. Matt Leinart served at USC with distinction, winning both a national championship and a Heisman Trophy, and he joins us today on Yahoo Sports' Grandstanding podcast to talk college football.
We begin with the story of USC head coach Steve Sarkisian, who made some unfortunate comments on Saturday night while under the influence of what he says was a combination of alcohol and medication. Leinart, who worked with Sark while at USC, nonetheless didn't hold back:
"Obviously, what he did is inappropriate and unacceptable," Leinart told Yahoo Sports. "He understands that. That's not how you represent any college, let alone USC, but I think he's handled it like a man. I buy his apology. He understands that it's not tolerated, and it can't happen again."
