Jakub Voracek to donate 396 hats after Simmonds' missed hat trick

A crew cleans up hats after the crowd believed Philadelphia Flyers Right Wing Wayne Simmonds (17) had scored a hat trick in the first period during the game between the Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers on February 28, 2017 at Wells Fargo Center
Wayne Simmonds’ hat trick that wasn’t Tuesday night has turned into another fine charitable venture from Jakub Voracek.
There were a large number of Philadelphia Flyers fans who went home after the win over Colorado Avalanche without their hats. For a few moments, everyone inside Wells Fargo Center thought that Simmonds had completed a natural hat trick after putting home a Voracek pass, but upon further review the puck did not hit off Simmonds for the goal.
Hats littered the ice in celebration, but soon after the goal was announced as Voracek’s and fans who tossed one laughed it off while pondering how they were going to replace their lost lid.
