1907 - Edmonton Rugby Foot-ball Club competes in its' first game losing to the Calgary City Rugby Foot-ball Club 26-5 at Edmonton Exhibition Grounds.
1950 - Philadelphia Phillies manager Eddie Sawyer is selected as Manager of the Year.
1950 - Chicago White Sox release future HOF Luke Appling, who had been a Sox since 1930.
1961 - PGA eliminates caucasians only rule.
1965 - First NY Knick game is postponed vs. St. Louis due to a black-out.
1965 - Willie Mays is named the NL MVP.
1982 - Milwaukee Brewers' Robin Yount wins the AL MVP unanimously.
1984 - Larry Holmes TKOs Bonecrusher Smith in the 12 rounds for the heavyweight boxing title.
1991 - Houston's Roman Anderson is the first NCAA player to kick 400 points.
2009 - Joe Cada becomes the youngest champion of the World Series of Poker's main event.
