1926 - Ty Cobb resigns as Detroit Tigers manager.
1934 - Although Lou Gehrig wins Triple Crown, Mickey Cochrane wins AL MVP.
1942 - In happens again!  This time Ted Williams collects the Triple Crown award while Yankees Joe Gordon is names the AL MVP.
1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Vern Law wins the Cy Young Award.
1962 - Wilt Chamberlain, San Francisco Warriors, scores 72 points against the Los Angeles Lakers.
1964 - Philadelphia voters approve $25 million to build a new sports stadium.
1967 - Boston Red Sox Jim Lonborg collects the AL Cy Young Award.
1981 - Brewers reliever Rollie Fingers wins AL Cy Young Award.
1982 - Pete Vuckovich becomes Milwaukee's 2nd consecutive AL Cy Young Award.
1993 - Ken Daneyko sets New Jersey Devils "Ironman" record by playing in his 322nd consecutive game.
