1954 - Cleveland Brown's Chet Hanulak sets club record with 7 punt returns while winning by their largest margin of victory, 59 points, beating Washington 62-3.
1957 - Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jack Sanford wins the NL Rookie of the Year.
1962 - Glenn Hall sets NHL record of 503 consecutive games as goalie.
1978 - Boston Red Sox Jim Rice wins AL MVP.
