Penguins trade Rob Scuderi to Blackhawks for Trevor Daley

In the first player-for-player trade of the 2015-16 season, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks swapped struggling defensemen on Monday.
The Penguins traded veteran defenseman Rob Scuderi to the Blackhawks for fellow veteran Trevor Daley. Scuderi found himself traded in the middle of Pittsburgh's game against the Washington Capitals. He was a healthy scratch.
Both players have struggled this season on teams that have failed to reach lofty expectations. Scuderi has won Stanley Cups with both the Penguins and Los Angeles Kings, but has found his ice time reduced as his play declined over the last two seasons. The Penguins are retaining a third of Scuderi's salary in the trade with Chicago.
Daley has six assists in 29 games in Chicago after being dealt from the Dallas Stars in exchange for Patrick Sharp during the offseason. Daley spent the first 11 years of his career in Dallas and was known for being an offense-first defenseman with speed to burn.
