Damontre Moore cut after fight when he didn't get free headphones

PHILADELPHIA, PA - OCTOBER 19: Damontre Moore #98 of the New York Giants celebrates a sack against Sam Bradford #7 of the Philadelphia Eagles during ...Defensive end Damontre Moore is out of a job with the New York Giants that paid him $585,000 this season, because he lost his cool when he didn't get a pair of free headphones.
Here's the story: Receiver Odell Beckham gave out blue Beats By Dre headphones to his teammates, Jordan Raanan of NJ.com said. Defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins took multiple pairs. Moore, a disappointing 2013 third-round pick who had already been frustrating the Giants, didn't get a pair. So he fought with Jenkins. And that was the final straw for the Giants, who cut Moore. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport also reported the free Beats reason as the reason for Moore's release.
Seriously, these two professionals scrapped because everyone didn't get their free headphones, like two first graders getting mad over who got the last juice box, or two midnight shoppers scrapping over the last $10 toaster at a black Friday sale. A man lost his job in the NFL over this nonsense.
Now, if we assume these were top-end Beats By Dre headphones, perhaps the studio class, and Beckham didn't shop around for a good deal, they're about $300 apiece. Moore could have bought 1,950 pairs of them with his salary this season.
The beatdown over Beats wasn't the only reason for the transaction, of course. ESPN.com's Dan Graziano said that Moore had multiple team rules violations and his maturity issues never improved since he got in the NFL. And, he wasn't a good player. He had just 8.5 sacks in three seasons. If he was a better pass rusher, he probably could have wrapped a headphones cord around Tom Coughlin's neck in a team meeting and still played on Sunday. But when you're not a good player, behavior issues won't be tolerated.
So Moore is now cut from the Giants. And he probably didn't even get those Beats on his way out the door either.
