As Major League Baseball is reveling in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement that avoided any potential lockout, Cubs pitcher Jon Lester had the perfect response on Twitter:
While my efforts to eliminate pitchers from having to throw to 1B didnt pass, I'm proud of the PA & Owners for coming together on a new CBA!— Jon Lester (@JLester34) December 1, 2016
Lester's issues throwing to first base are well known, as the "yips" have been a major talking point surrounding the veteran over his two years in Chicago and even during his last few months in Boston.
Lester has never shied away from poking fun at himself for his yips.
Early in spring training this year, as Cubs pitchers began working on pickoff moves during practice, the group of reporters shifted their focus to the field Lester was working on, positioning themselves behind first base.
Lester's first throw was a lob well over the first baseman's head, sending the media scattering and inciting laughter from media and Cubs players alike.
Lester just shrugged with a simple "Oops."
As fans responded to his Tweet Thursday morning, the NLCS MVP had plenty of fun interacting to "Major League 2" references as well as the idea that Lester would have a "DT," designated thrower.
