1935 - Gary Player, Johannesburg, South African

1946 - Cleveland Indians owner Bill Veeck's right foot is amputated.
1946 - NY Knicks 1st basketball game beat Toronto Huskies 68-66.
1947 - Man o' War, American thoroughbred racehorse (b. 1917) dies.
1950 - First negro player in NBA, (Celtic's Charles Cooper) Ft Wayne, IN.
