1914 - Connie Mack sells Eddie Collins to the Chicago White Sox.
1940 - First NFL Championship is broadcast on radio:  Bears beat the Redskins 73-0.
1955 - Brooklyn catcher Roy Campanella wins his 3rd MVP Award.
1960 - Expansion LA Angels sign a 4 year lease to use Dodger Stadium.
1961 - Larry Costello scores an NBA record of 32 consecutive point without a miss.
1961 - Wilt Chamberlain scores the second highest total points in the NBA at 78.
1966 - One of the worst MLB trades is completed between the Yankees and the Cardinals:  Roger Maris for Charlie Smith.
1987 - Philadelphia Flyers' Ron Hextall becomes the first goalie to actually score a goal.
1987 - Milwaukee Bucks Jack Sikma begins his NBA free throw streak of 51 games.
1994 - Darryl Strawberry is indicted on tax evasion charges.
