1810 - Tom Cribb (Great Britian) beats Tom Molineaus (US-Black) in the first interacial boxing championship, 40 rounds.
1831 - "Spirit of the Times", weekly horse racing sheet, begins publication.
1922 - Pete Henry makes the longest known NFL drop-kicked field goal of 45 yards.
1935 - A's sell Jimmie Foxx to the Red Sox for $150,000.
1935 - White Sox sell Al Simmons to the Tigers for $75,000.
1939 - The Green Bay Packers win the NFL Championship as they defeat the NY Giants 27-0.
1954 - Philadelphia Phillies purchse Connie Mack Stadium.
1968 - Joe Frazier beats Oscar Bonavena in 15 Rounds for the Heavyweight boxing title.
1982 - Heavyweight Michael Doakes KOs Mike Weaver in 1:03 in Las Vegas.
1983 - Last NFL game at Shea Stadium as the Steelers beat the NY Jets 34-7.
