1929 - Boston Bruins begin then an NHL record of a 14 game winning streak.
1933 - Connie Mack sells Mickey Cochrane to the Detroit Tigers for $100,000.
1933 - Joe Liliard quarterback for the Chicago Cardinals is the last NFL black player for 13 years until 1946.
1950 - The Cleveland Browns are the last NFL with no passes in a game as they defeat Philadelphia 13-7.
1956 - Wilt Chamberlain plays in his first college game and collects 52 points.
1961 - Anton Geesink become the first non-Japanese Judo world champion.
1982 - Steve Tambellini collects the first New Jersey hat trick as the Devils defeat Hartford 5-4.
1982 - Tommy Hearns wins the WBC Welterweight title in a decision count over Wilfredo Benitez.
1990 - NL batting champion Willie McGee signs as a free agent with the SF Giants.
1997 - Golden State Warrior guard Latrell Sprewell, four-year $32 million, contract is terminated for attacking his coach P.J. Carlesimo.
